Raise Hope Gala 2017
Thank you to all of our supporters: volunteers, attendees, sponsors, and donors that made our Raise Hope Gala 2017 possible! This past Saturday we gathered at the University of Portland Bauccio Commons. We shared delectable food and drink, talked together, and learned more about the work of Community of Hope.
A Night to Remember
The evening began with a silent auction. Dozens of generous businesses and individuals donated goods and services for families, couples, and individuals. Some fun packages were a group ski trip with instructor (and Community of Hope board member) Josh Hawk and a getaway to Alberta. Also for auction: beautiful handmade jewelry, spots at a kids’ summer camp, and gardening gear. Click here to check out all the packages we auctioned off and all the businesses that donated them.
Following the silent auction, we sat down for a delicious meal. As we ate, Nancy Jason and Fran Weick from the Human Solutions Trauma Informed Care Committee taught about the effects of trauma in the lives of children. Next, our Program Director Linda Jo shared about the incredible happenings at Community of Hope and how we are breaking that cycle of trauma. Our work would be impossible the work and support of past donors!
In the Paddle Raise that followed, attendees pledged their support anew or began partnering with us by donating for the first time. We raised more than $50,000 in the course of the evening evening! With these funds, Hope House can continue to serve families and support life transformation for the rest of 2017.
A Tale of Success: The Shower Room Shadow Box
One auction item highlighted the progress made by Community of Hope with the help of our supporters: the Shower Room Shadow Box. Made by our faithful and generous friend, Carol, it represents the recently-renovated shower room at Hope House. Before we completed renovations, families could only shower three times a week in a shower trailer outside the house that was run by volunteers.
Now, thanks to generous donors and faithful supporters of Community of Hope, families can take a warm shower inside whenever they need to! With more renovations still on our agenda, we are beyond grateful for the many people who give of themselves so that we can continue serving families and keep making Hope House a more comfortable place for families to live, to heal from trauma, and to gain stability to move towards important goals.
Our Greatest Thanks!
The day by day work at Community of Hope would not be possible without our supporters. Many thanks to all those who attended, to the many hard working volunteers, and to our partners who were not able to be there!
